‘A night at the movies’ is currently in the cutting room!
We’re currently deep in rehearsals – learning a great new repertoire of songs featured in movies and we’re going to be performing on Saturday July 13th at 7:30pm., at Knaphill Methodist Church.
It’s an incredibly varied programme as film music covers many genres. We are singing a couple of classical pieces which are more challenging, well known and will be appreciated for their beautiful settings.
There are some fun pieces from recent films such as ‘This is me’ (The Greatest Showman), ‘Eye of the Tiger’ (Rocky III) and ‘Happy’ (Despicable Me)- that’s a relief after the technically challenging Barber’s adagio for Strings (Platoon)! Oh, so difficult but oh so beautiful when we’ve mastered it.
We’re all imagining that we’re Disney princesses as we sing our way through a pretty medley from Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Pocohontas and Mulan; and we like Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 so much we are arranging a social outing to the theatre in Woking to see the show.
With even more numbers to learn before the performance we could always do with more members to help us along – we are having such a great time with Julie, our musical diector, learning these pieces – you could join us if you fancy a good sing.
