Christmas Concert 2018 Review
Christmas and all that Jazz – it certainly was.
A well received programme, well delivered, in spite of numerous wintery ailments. At least this year most of the choir were able to make it and we’re so glad we did.
This was one of our best attended concerts, the church was packed and buzzing in anticipation and no-one was disappointed.
The addition of the Jazz trio gave our performance a lift and an extra level of interest, not just for the audience – everyone in WLC agreed the band really enhanced the event.
We performed a wide range of pieces from the more challenging Chilcott’s Little Jazz Mass to the spiritual This little light of mine, and from a sung setting of Elgar’s Nimrod to The twelve days of Christmas which the audience were cajoled in to joining in with us.
Julie and Camilla enthralled us with 2 spirited seasonal piano duets: Sleigh ride and Santa Claus is coming to town, and our Chairman, Brenda, enlightened us with an amusing reading on the impossibilities of A politically correct Christmas.
With our usual popular raffle and interval supper the whole evening was a triumph. The Mayor and Mayoress attending were the final trimmings to our Christmas feast of a concert.
Well done and thank you to everyone who helped, supported and participated in a very enjoyable and successful evening.
